Johnny.... you and the crew are/were awesome... I am still smiling, even though I feel like I got hit by a truck. Might have to take a few rest days before begining the 360 some odd training period for next year :-)
Thanks again for a super event.

Kevin Lowe

Thanks Johnny,
Great weekend! Great programming and judging. The CrossFit community this weekend was absolutely incredible. Forged stronger friendships and made a TON of new friends. Thanks for everything and a job well done.

I've never been this "beat up" in a long while (ever?). It feels great that I know I share the feeling with 200 of my brothers and sisters.

Congrats to all the winners. You peeps deserved it!!!!

Looking forward to the results......

So proud to be apart of the Crossfit community after this weekend. First time really getting to see what it is to be apart of it. Great programming and the judging was consistent. Thanks to everyone who put this together and looking forward to getting more involved in the community.

JMac and Tommy - I can't imagine organizing something on this scale; you guys really put together a tight, professional event that had all its bases covered. Thank you so much for all of your efforts, and I would like to extend that to everyone else involved as well; TJ, all the judges and volunteers, and everyone who helped make the Dirty South Qualifiers such an amazing experience.

To all the participants - wow! I can't express how impressed I am with everyone's performances, the camaraderie, and the heart that was put into each and every workout. I look forward to seeing all of you again at a future CrossFit event!

Adriana Grassi- Mosley (crossfithardcore)

I just want to thank all the Judges and volunteers, for keeping this event so well organized and for pushing each athlete to do their best.
JMac and Tommy I can't even thank you enough for giving to all of us this incredible experience, you guys did an amazing job, from the program designing to the event itself.
I am honor that I was able to compete against so many incredible athletes, thank you again!!

Matt

Will there be another one next year? If so when and where?

Donna @ HC2

What a great turnout and showing of true athleticism. Kudos to JMac and Tommy for all their hard work. The event was a huge success!

I WAS IMPRESSED WITH ALL THE ATHLETES COMPETING THIS PAST WEEKEND. VERY INSPIRING TO WATCH BOTH THE COMPETITION AND CROSSFIT FAMILY SUPPORT FOR EACH OTHER.

THAT BEING SAID, THERE NEEDS TO BE A CHANGE IN THE JUDGING AND FAVORITISM! EVERY JUDGE KNEW THE FAVORITES COMING IN AND LET SOME FORM SLIDE. IF WE ALL NEED TO POST PICS AND WODS ON THE MAIN SITE SO WERE KNOWN TO GET SOME HELP IN THE JUDGING THAT CAN BE DONE. I SAW MANY REPS BEING COUNTED FOR A MALE COMPETITOR WITH A WELL KNOWN NICKNAME THAT SHOULDNT HAVE.
ALSO, MRS. WHITE HAT WALKING AROUND PICKING AND CHOOSING WHO TO CALL OUT ON FORM EITHER NEEDED TO KEEP OUT OF IT OR SIT THERE AND JUDGE EVERY COMPETITOR ON EVERY WOD FOR THE EXERCISE YOU DECIDED TO WALK UP ON AND SCREW A FEW COMPETITORS FOR A COUPLE MINUTES AND WALK AWAY!

ALL IN ALL GREAT WEEKEND THO. WAS A LOT OF HARDWORK PUT IN BY A LOT OF PEOPLE. CANT WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR!

Gaby Schlicht / crossfithardcore

Johnny, Tommy and all of you volunteers thank you for putting this incredible event together. It was well organized. The judges did an amazing job , nobody is perfect, some call are hard to make. The WODs were well chosen, something for everybody. I am probably the only one thanking you for the scaled weight (not pull ups) which made it possible for me to become part of this elite group of athletes. See you all next year.

Tommy

DJ--Were you impressed with "all the athletes”, with the exception of those with nicknames? Or maybe just unimpressed with one particular athlete with a nickname? Or maybe just jealous of one particular athlete with a nickname that can...well, do a lot of things that you are incapable of?

I find your comments to be extremely disrespectful. I’ve tried to “consider the source”, and I’ve taken into consideration your ignorance and your motive, both of which are evident. But I can’t let it go, and I feel the need to respond in defense of every judge and volunteer who dedicated 3 days of their lives, at their own expense, to make this event possible. While you were taking notes on how to criticize them, just to take a shot at another competitor.

Thirty-Five judges arrived at CrossFit East on Friday night for a two hour meeting. They returned Saturday morning at 7am to set up for the day’s events. Many stood in the sun from 7am until 6pm Saturday evening with no more than a handful of 5-min breaks. They returned again on Sunday morning, again at 7am for Sunday's set-up. Again...another hot day with little (or no) time to break. Where were you DJ? We've established that you were not a judge. Had you been, you would understand the difficulty of the job and respect the efforts. Were you a competitor? Were you a volunteer? Were you a spectator?

As for "MRS. WHITE HAT", who "NEEDED TO KEEP OUT OF IT OR SIT THERE AND JUDGE EVERY COMPETITOR ON EVERY WOD". She is a Level II CrossFit Trainer and a Head Judge. It sounds like you are criticizing her for taking away reps. It was here job to police the judging, and from your description of her actions, it sounds like she was doing it. If she took away reps, it was because the reps were not up to standard. And if she didn’t take away reps, they were either legit, or she didn’t see them. She, like most of us, only has one set of eyes. Was the judging perfect? The answer to the question is no. It was not perfect and we never expected it to be. We only asked the each judge make their best effort to hold each competitor to the standards we set. We are very pleased with the efforts put forward by our judges.

As for favoritism…My sister won the event and she too has a nickname. She’s also been on the mainpage in pictures, profiles, and workouts. Is that how she won? Did the judging favor her?

As for competitors getting screwed? Losing reps that were legit is the only way to get screwed in this event. If an athlete lost reps, it was because the reps were not up to standard. If someone else got away with reps that were below standard, although we try to prevent it, it certainly doesn’t qualify as getting screwed.

Maybe instead of criticizing and causing problems, you can volunteer next year and be part of the solution instead of being part of a problem.

Thank you to all judges and volunteers who dedicated themselves to the Dirty South for 3 great days. Our event was great and we want all of you back next year.

Thank you to J-Mac for putting together a kick ass event. You all know he put a lot of work into this, but if you really knew how much time and effort he put into this thing you would have had him on top of the podium with a medal around his neck and would have been asking for autographs.

Congratulations to all competitors (with and without nicknames) for your incredible efforts and performances. The energy level was through the roof and we are confident that our 14 will rock in Aromas.

And finally…congratulations to DJ! You now have a nickname.

P.S. Turn off your CAPS LOCK. It is located on the left hand side of your keyboard. That’s like driving with your blinker on.

Tommy... you are the shit... that was very well spoken and needed to be said.. I was a competitor that had reps "taken" away.. but guess what.. that just meant they werent good enough.. don't get pissy.. get better.
again, well said Tommy and congrats to your sis.. she is a kick ass person.. and amazing athelete.

dj

TOMMY THE CAPS WILL STAY ON JUST FOR YOU BUDDY! I'M A BIG SUPPORTER OF CROSSFIT AND ALWAYS WILL BE. BEEN A MEMBER FOR A YEAR AND A HALF NOW, AND IT'S DONE AMAZING THINGS IN MY LIFE. MY TRAINER IS AWESOME AND HAS BECOME A GREAT FRIEND.

YES I KNOW WE ALL HAVE ONE SET OF EYES, BUT THANKS FOR REASSURING ME OF THAT. WHAT I'M SAYING IS THAT SHE NEEDED TO JUDGE ONE EXERCISE PER HEAT. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO JUDGE EVERY EXERCISE ON EVERY WOD I UNDERSTAND THAT. WE COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT THIS BUT FOR HER TO WALK UP TO AN EXERCISE AND CALL OUT A COUPLE COMPETITORS ON FORM WHEN THE ONES BEFORE AND AFTER HAD THE SAME FORM WAS RIDICULOUS. THAT'S IT.

I APPRECIATE ALL THE JUDGES EFFORT AND TIME PUT INTO THE WEEKEND. I SURE AS HELL WASN'T WALKING AROUND TAKING NOTES SO I COULD GET ON HERE AND CRITICIZE. IF YOU KNEW ME YOU'D KNOW THAT TOMMY. SORRY I STRUCK A BAD NERVE WITH YOU BUT I'M ONLY SAYING WHAT I SAW AND FEEL. TAKE IT AS A SUGGESTION FOR FUTURE EVENTS. I LOOK FORWARD TO VOLUNTEERING NEXT YEAR.

AS FOR YOUR SISTER, I THINK SHE IS AN AMAZING ATHLETE. AS ALL THE COMPETITORS WERE THIS WEEKEND. I'M POSITIVE THE TOP 14 WILL GO REPRESENT STRONG IN CALI.

I HOPE THIS HAS CLEARED UP A FEW THINGS.
UNTIL NEXT TIME BIG GUY. I'LL BE SURE TO CHECK MY BLINKERS WHENEVER I'M ON THE ROAD.

Tommy Orr

Sounds just as ignorant as it did the first time.
